1 – Exploring Nature while Hiking

One of the best things camping can offer is being close to nature. Hiking is a very good way to explore and appreciate nature. While hiking, you can also enjoy activities like bird watching, animal watching, searching for edible fruits like wild berries, and taking pictures of the beautiful animals and plants that you encounter along the way. Just make sure that before going to a hike, have a good knowledge of the trail, have a map, or ask a guide to go with you to ensure your safety. Also, do not forget to add the things that you will need in this activity to your camping checklist.

Some of the most important things are compass and map, food and drinks, and first aid kit. You can also bring camera if you are into taking pictures or telescope if you are into bird or animal watching. Also, always follow proper hiking etiquettes. Refrain from disturbing the natural wildlife.

2 – Playing Ball Games

What’s good about ball games is that it does not require too much props and also makes camping more interactive and fun. You can not only play with your family and friends, you can also have bonding experience with your fellow campers.

Also, when playing ball games in the camp, you can always change or adjust the rules to make it more fun or to make it convenient for the participants of the game. For example, when playing kickball, you can use water balloons and throw them to put the players out rather than using the usual kicking ball. Examples of ball games that you can play while camping are baseball, football, volleyball, kickball, and four squares.

3 – Playing Tag Games

Tag is a very popular playground game in many countries wherein you chase and “tag” or touch another player and say, “Tag, you’re it!” The player that has been tagged will be dropped out of play. Nowadays, there are a lot of different versions of tag. When playing tag in a camp, you can choose your own variation depending on the participants or you can even change the rules to allow everyone to have fun.

One example of a variation of tag is the Cyclops tag wherein everyone has to play with their one hand covering an eye. The advantage of choosing tag as a playing activity is that it does not need props and preparation.

4 – Gathering around the Campfire

Camping is not complete without having a camp fire. It somehow gives the essence of what camping is all about. There are a lot of activities or games that you can do while gathered around the campfire. In fact, you can even have an activity before the campfire starts by collecting logs around the area and giving a food prize like s’mores or crescent dogs to the ones who brought the most logs.

Other campfire activities may include playing instruments and singing songs, telling ghost stories, cooking mallows and hotdogs on stick in the campfire, playing truth or dare, charades, and other stuff where your creativity takes you.

Also, it gives you the feeling of satisfaction of providing your family with a food of your own catch, not to mention that it is fresh and will surely taste good. It also gives you and your family the experience of catching, cleaning, preparing, and cooking your own delicious, freshly caught food. Before fishing, make sure that you have knowledge on different fishing strategies so you won’t have a hard time catching one. 6 – Stargazing

What can be more refreshing and calming than gazing the beautiful stars at night in a quiet and peaceful place close to nature? All you need is a good weather, a mat, an open field, and a friend to share your knowledge about stars, your thoughts, or even your philosophies.

You can just serenely lie down and wait for shooting stars, look for constellations, or just stare at the beautiful twinkling stars as you let your thoughts drift away in the calmness of the night. If you have great interest in constellations, you can also bring a book of constellations and a flashlight to find and check those constellations.

7 – Playing “Inside the Tent” Games

Having a tent during camping is compulsory. When you intend to play games inside the tent, it is better to set up bigger tents like the 5 most popular 4 person tent for camping to accommodate more players. When the weather is not that good to play or have activities outside, or if you and some of your friends are still not in the mood for sleeping when others are, you can just set up games and play inside the tent.

Games that can be played inside the tent are card games and board games. Examples of popular card games are Uno, Go Fish, Poker, and Multiple Solitaire.
